Here is a simple campfire/sweetheart tune from about 1960. Bobby Darin had a few pretty good pop songs - and he wrote them himself! These chords may not be exact but that hardly matters with a tune like this. Play the "because i want - a girl -" with a chunk-chunk feel. -david.turner@rose.com (david turner)
Dream Lover Bobby Darin ===========
Verse 1:
[C] Every night I hope and pray-e-he, [Am] a dream lover will come my way- [C] a girl to hold in my arms and know-ooh-ho [Am] the magic of her charms. Because I [C //]want, a [G7 //] girl, to [C] call my [F] own. I want a [C] dream [[Am] lover so [Dm7] I won9t have to [G7} dream [C] alone. [G ///]
Verse 2:
[C] Dream lover, where are you [Am] with a love that9s oh so true [C] and a hand that I can hold, to [Am] feel you near when I grow old? Because I [C //]want, a [G7 //] girl, to [C] call my [F] own. I want a [C] dream [[Am] lover so [Dm7] I won9t have to [G7} dream [C] alone. [C7]
Bridge:
[F] Someday, I don9t know how, [C] I hope you9ll hear my plea. [D7] Someway, I don9t know how, [G7] She9ll bring her love to me.
Verse 3:
[C] Dream lover, until then, [Am] I9ll go to sleep and dream again. [C] That9s the only thing to do [Am] until my 3lovers dreams2 come true.
Because I [C //]want, a [G7 //] girl, to [C] call my [F] own. I want a [C] dream [[Am] lover so [Dm7] I won9t have to [G7} dream [C] alone.
